Canvas painting for kids

This is a nice, simple, open-ended media that kids can paint on. Here is a canvas my eldest daughter painted that is now a cherished gift at her grandparents’ house.

Painted canvas gift

Visitors love to admire it and talk about what they see in it, often. It’s also a lovely way for parents to decorate the home, capturing a time, an age, a memory. Best of all, they are cheap and easy to buy! Here’s some painted canvases we’ve done over the years:

Have you ever given your children canvas to work with? Next time you’re stuck for a gift, you could give this a try.

Beautiful idea. I’m thinking this might work really well as a Christmas present for my daughters teachers – on a smaller scale though :)

That’s the great thing about these, Marita:) You can get these canvases in any size from huge to tiny, so it works with different budgets or needs. It’s nice, because it’s a beautiful gift, but is still centred on the child’s creativity.

I’ve painted on canvas myself but I haven’t thought of it for my kids. They are just getting into art (my daughter is much more interested in it than my son) so I will keep this in mind once I introduce her to paint. She’s only 20months so we’re still in the crayon/pencil crayon stage. :)
